Communication. Transparency. Collaboration.

Growing up, my father often challenged me with this quote: “There are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.” He would say that we all have a choice, and then ask me which type of person I wanted to be. I believe I have always naturally gravitated towards the first group, because from a young age I was encouraged to stand up for myself and others, speak out for what is right, and live a life of charity giving back to others.

Six years ago when my husband and I moved to Lynnfield, I remember saying that someday I wanted to get more involved in our new community. Well that someday has come, and that time is now. I want to leverage the skills I have developed from the depth and breadth of my professional and personal experiences to help shape the future direction of this town. I want to help solve problems: big, hairy, audacious problems. I am running for School Committee because I want to use my voice to advocate for what is best for all of the children in Lynnfield, including my own. I am committed to enhancing community engagement, and I want to help improve the communication, transparency and collaboration between the Superintendent, School Committee, and parent community.

As a parent to a kindergartner and a preschooler, and a participant in a diverse set of community activities, I will have insight into what is happening on a daily basis in our schools. I am ready to seize the opportunity to infuse fresh ideas and new perspectives into the Lynnfield School Committee. It will truly be an honor to lend my voice to help make our schools even better for our children.

Mark your calendars for Election Day on April 10th. If you will be away, or cannot make it to the polls, be sure to complete your absentee ballot. Thank you for your support and for spreading the word!

Your neighbor,
Kimberlee
