It has always been important to me to be connected with my community. As a teenager, I think at times my parents were overwhelmed with the amount of activities I was involved in. As an adult, not much has changed. Since moving to Lynnfield, I have gotten involved in a variety of community activities because I enjoy meeting new people and giving back through volunteer work.

I joined the Lynnfield Moms group three years ago. Recently I also became a member of Lynnfield for Love, an organization that resonates deeply with my personal and family values, as I am a strong advocate for diversity, inclusion and kindness.

Soon after our children started attending preschool at Bridge to Learning Too, I created an informal parents’ group to meet other young families in town. Last year, I helped mobilize the extended Bridge to Learning community after the son of one of the families was diagnosed with metastatic brain cancer. Together we organized a paint night fundraising event, and raised over $10,000 in less two weeks, which helped to offset their medical costs and loss of income while caring for their son.

Last May, I volunteered at Townscape’s Geraniumfest / Kid’s Day (and will do so again this year), and in the fall I became a classroom volunteer at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School (HHS), assisting my daughter's teachers with a bi-weekly project for three months. In addition, I participated in the hugely successful Walk-a-thon at HHS, where we cheered on students as they walked, skipped and danced around the school.

Towards the end of last year, the HHS PTO Board appointed me to the newly created position of Social Committee Chair. In this role, I organized an event for kindergarten parents, to integrate new families at the school into our parent community. I am also looking forward to helping the PTO with the Annual Golf Tournament, which is the school's biggest fundraiser of the year.
